Science learning has traditionally been focused on note learning

Science learning has traditionally been focused on rote learning. The focus has been to instruct and focus on the “building blocks” rather than the practices or processes of the discipline. The effect is that learners might remember the “building blocks” but are unable to put them together to solve problems. There is need to improve the integrated understanding of science concepts and the accompanying content knowledge. There is more of a need to focus on process skills for gathering, creating and processing that knowledge.

The centre for science in society (C-SiS) has so far had about two lakh students and eight thousand teachers benefiting from visit to the centre, from its inception in 1996.
